Liverpool star Jose Enrique has deleted his Twitter and Instagram accounts in an effort to win back his place in Brendan Rodgers‘ team, reports the Daily Express.

The 29-year-old has been criticised at times for his heavy usage of the social media sites, and he has got rid of them after failing to secure a move away. The Spaniard had been linked with West Brom on deadline day, but a transfer failed to materialise.

Before getting rid of the accounts, he posted some messages asserting his determination to win back his place in the Reds’ starting XI.

“Just to let you all know that it wasn’t any offer from West Brom for me,” he said, “I’m happy to stay and fight for my place.”

He went on to add: “I thought it was good to share with the fans pictures but I think they have been killing me for that. Ok, chao (sic) Instagram and Twitter. Focus on football and show myself again.”

This is despite the left-back making just 18 appearances for the Anfield outfit over the last two seasons. At times during the last campaign, the defender even saw Raheem Sterling ahead of him in the pecking order at full-back. despite him being a forward.

Alberto Moreno, and when fit again John Flanagan could both play ahead of him in the position this time round. Rodgers’ propensity to play with three at the back also harms Enrique’s chances of making it back in to his plans.
