Newcastle United are ready to continue their push to sign QPR forward Charlie Austin according to the Daily Mirror.

Magpies boss Steve McClaren attempted to land the Loftus Road star during the summer transfer window but his side were unwilling to meet the Championship side’s £15m valuation.

Instead the St James’ Park side offered £10m plus youngster Ronaldo Aarons but the bid was unsuccessful and QPR will have to hope they can tie Austin down to a new deal otherwise he could be free to leave the West London side on a free transfer next summer.
