Where are they now? Manchester United’s starting XI from Gary Neville’s Red Devils debut

Left winger: Danny Wallace – The England wideman struggled at United after leaving Southampton in 1989, and a succession of injuries cost him his verve. Since retirement, the former winger established the Danny Wallace Foundation to raise awareness for multiple sclerosis—an ailment he suffers from.

Striker: Mark Hughes – Sparky starred for United, as well as the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona, and was not too dissimilar to Diego Costa in his heyday. He is currently manager of Stoke City, but after an excellent season last term the Potters haven’t looked too hot this season.

Striker: Brian McClair – The forward spent 11 years at United, and remained at the club until earlier this year. The former frontman coached United’s U-19 team, before becoming director of the Red Devils’ academy in 2006. He is currently National Performance Director of the Scottish football association.
