Aston Villa set to launch £10m bid for former Arsenal striker who can’t stop scoring

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has set his sights on former Arsenal striker Benik Afobe and is ready to fork out £10m to land the prolific Wolves forward according to the Daily Express.

The 22-year-old failed to break into the Gunners first-team set-up and was sold to Wolves in January and has since netted 18 goals in 30 Championship starts and isn’t a player that Molineux boss Kenny Jackett would want to lose.

Sherwood lost Christian Benteke to Liverpool over the summer and has seen his side struggle for goals, managing eight in eight Premier League fixtures this season.

The Villa Park side did bring in Rudy Gestede from Blackburn Rovers and the big French born Benin international forward has done well, scoring three goals in four top tier starts, but Sherwood may well feel he needs alternative options in the final third.
