Alexandre Pato Liverpool: Arsenal & Tottenham join transfer war over former Golden Boy

Despite having seemingly no suitors in the Premier League for months, Alexandre Pato‘s sudden link to Liverpool appears to have begun a transfer battle for him, with two top Premier League contenders seeking to claim the Brazilian star’s contract.

According to the Metro, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have entered the bidding for the former AC Milan Golden Boy, with Tottenham believed to be the front-runners for a £8 million transfer.

The Metro noted that the 26-year-old Pato was believed to have already agreed in principle to a transfer to Liverpool.

After winning the Golden Boy Award in 2009, Pato led Milan to the Serie A title in the 2010-11 season while scoring another 14. A brief stint with Corinthians led to a loan spell in Sao Paulo.

Since May, Pato has recorded 10 goals, five assists and five Man of the Match honors for Sao Paulo. During a six-match stretch from July to August, he scored six goals and had an assist.
