Van Gaal wants Ronaldo back at Old Trafford

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has admitted he’d love to bring former player Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club, according to reports in the Daily Star.

Ronaldo’s future at Real Madrid has come under intense scrutiny this season, with the Mirror claiming back in October that a deal for his departure had already been agreed upon.

Van Gaal’s comments have now added further fuel to the fire.

“Ronaldo plays on the wings and he is fast and scores goals. There is no trainer in the world that doesn’t like him”, said the Dutchman.

“Should United look? Of course. We are looking at all players – not just Ronaldo. But mostly you can’t get these players. With Ronaldo, let’s wait and hope”.

The Daily Star claim the biggest obstacles to the deal are the finances involved; it is reported Madrid would want a world record £100 million, and the Portuguese international would demand a weekly wage of £350,000 per week.

If the 30 year old does eventually leave the Spanish capital, it is believed Man United would face still competition for his signature from oil-rich Paris Saint Germain.
