Manchester United dressing room unrest after puzzling Louis van Gaal decision

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal faces another headache this week as it has been reported that one of his decisions has left the players unhappy.

United saw their Champions League adventure come to an end on Tuesday night, as a 3-2 loss to Wolfsburg ensured that they finished in third place in their group.

While that sees them relegated to the Europa League, the pressure continues to build on Van Gaal as they must now focus their attention on sustaining their Premier League title push.

The Red Devils sit just three points behind current league leaders Leicester City, but their lack of goals and slow style of play has seen them come under significant criticism in recent weeks.

According to The Times, there is now further unrest in the dressing room after the players were left baffled by Van Gaal’s decision to replace Juan Mata with Nick Powell in the closing stages of the game with Wolfsburg.

Given the Spaniard created Anthony Martial’s opener and was arguably one of the biggest threats for United as they looked to battle back from a 2-1 deficit at the time of his withdrawal in the 69th minute, it remains unclear as to why the Dutch tactician made the decision.

However, what is certain is that it has only added to the growing frustration and disillusion at the club and it all continues to lead to speculation over the United’s boss future at Old Trafford, as noted by the Daily Mail.

United face Bournemouth at Dean Court on Saturday evening looking to get back on track, but if the goals don’t start to arrive then Van Gaal will likely face more difficult questions over the weekend.
