Chelsea forced to wait until summer to sign Brazilian full-back

Chelsea have reportedly shown an interest in Inter star Alex Telles but a January transfer move has been ruled out as the Blues will have to wait until the summer.

Reports in the English media have insisted that Telles is one of the top transfer targets for Guus Hiddink, as the Dutchman looks to bolster his squad for the second half of the campaign.

However, the 23-year-old, who joined the Nerazzurri on loan for €1.3m with an option to buy at the end of the season for another €8.5m, is ineligible to play for another club this year, as reported by Football Italia.

Telles has featured for both Inter and former club Galatasaray in the current campaign, and so under current UEFA regulations, he can’t be registered with a third club until the season is over.

Having made two appearances in Turkey before moving to Italy, the Brazilian will remain at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for the next six months with Inter likely to then evaluate whether or not he will stay for longer.

Telles has played in 11 Serie A games so far this season and has produced two assists as Roberto Mancini’s side boast the best defensive record in the league which has helped take them to the top of the pile over the winter break.
