Man United agree to pay Neymar’s £140m release clause fee to seal mega transfer

Manchester United are reportedly set to pay Neymar’s £140million release clause to bring him on board from Barcelona, according to the Daily Star.

United were credited with a heavy interest in the Brazilian international last summer, as manager Louis van Gaal looked to make a marquee signing heading into the new season.

And though he ended up staying in Catalonia, the Star report cites quotes from French publications as saying that United will now cough up the stunning £140m fee necessary to prize him away from the Nou Camp.

However, the reports claim that the move will not go ahead until the summer, with United only being alerted to the possibility of snapping him up because talks regarding a new deal with Barcelona have hit the skids recently.

But United will offer the player an enormous wage packet to convince him to make the move to Old Trafford, and will be watching the progress regarding his deal with Barca closely over the coming months.
