Liverpool injury news: Unlucky 13 for Jurgen Klopp as forward becomes latest casualty

Posted by

Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe has become the 13th player to be hit by the club’s injury curse and will play no part in the Reds’ weekend fixture.

Jurgen Klopp’s side travel to Exeter on Friday for an FA Cup third-round clash, but will have to see off the League Two side with a shadow side, due to a mounting injury crisis.

The Merseyside giants saw off Stoke City in their Capital One Cup semi-final on Tuesday, but the 1-0 win came at a cost.

Defenders Kolo Toure and Dejan Lovren both picked up injuries during the match, adding their names to the likes of Mamadou Sakho, Joe Gomez and Martin Skrtel, all of whom are already out of action.

Philippe Coutinho was also injured during the match, with the Express reporting that he faces a month on the sidelines, while Jordan Henderson and Danny Ings—the former with a heel problem, according to the Mirror, and the latter with a long-term knee complaint—are also absent.

Jon Flanagan remains sidelined as he continues his long road back to full fitness.

The Mirror [as above] note that Ibe has suffered a hamstring injury, making him—remarkably—the seventh member of Klopp’s squad to currently be out with hamstring trouble.

As well as the England U-21 winger—who is of Nigerian origin—the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Jordan Rossiter—as well as the aforementioned Coutinho, Lovren and Skrtel—are all out with hamstring problems.
