Chelsea prepare January bid for prolific Serie A striker

Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing AC Milan star Carlos Bacca as Guus Hiddink looks to bolster his squad for the remainder of the season.

Although the Dutchman is in charge on a temporary basis until the summer, it appears as though he will be given an opportunity to strengthen by owner Roman Abramovich this month.

According to Fichajes, that search for reinforcements will take them to Serie A where Bacca has emerged on their radar as they look to add goals to the side.

The Colombian international has scored nine goals for the Rossoneri this season, but frustration levels at the San Siro have continued to grow under Sinisa Mihajlovic with the Serbian tactician under pressure to save his job ahead of Saturday’s clash with Roma.

Whether or not the 46-year-old survives remains to be seen, but it could have an impact on Bacca’s future as Chelsea will undoubtedly have noted that he would also be available to play in the Champions League.

The Premier League champions have struggled this season which ultimately resulted in the sacking of former boss Jose Mourinho last month.

With the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard failing to find the back of the net on a regular basis this year, supporters will arguably welcome another option up front with Bacca proving himself to be one of the most clinical strikers in Europe following his spell with Sevilla prior to his move to Italy.
