Nothing has gone right for Aston Villa since their match day one victory over AFC Bournemouth. The Premier League mainstay’s only wins in all competitions have been a pair of close victories in the League Cup, only for the team to lose to Southampton in late October. However, fans hope that a busy January transfer window will enable them to somehow save some face – and Florentin Pogba could be the man for the task.
According to the Metro, the Villans have inquired to AS Saint-Etienne about Florentin Pogba – the older brother of Juventus megastar Paul Pogba – and are hoping to make an offer for the 25-year-old defender. Pogba has made 21 appearances for the Ligue 1 side since 2012 and has one goal.
Per the source, Norwich City, Newcastle United and Swansea City have all made inquiries about Pogba as well. However, Saint-Etienne are considered unlikely to part with him in January.
Aston Villa have eight points on the season and are seven points below 19th-placed Sunderland on the table – as well as 11 points away from Swansea City outside of the relegation zone.
