Jose Mourinho Man United: Ex-Chelsea boss expects to be in charge at Old Trafford within six months

Jose Mourinho reportedly expects to be Manchester United manager within the next six months.

Mourinho’s name has been linked to the Old Trafford hotseat ever since his sacking by Chelsea, and The Sun understands that he is confident of replacing Louis van Gaal before the start of next season.

Van Gaal faces an uncertain future with the Red Devils, who are sixth in the Premier League table and have bored sections of the fans and media alike with the Dutchman’s unadventurous playing style.

The Sun reports that Mourinho is in pole position if Van Gaal is axed. The Special One has remained in England since leaving his Chelsea post because of his preference to work in the Premier League.

The Portuguese has been in informal contact with Sir Alex Ferguson and has already asked which of his regular backroom staff would be interested in joining him in Manchester, according to The Sun.

Although The Sun adds that there are plenty of members of the United board who are determined for Van Gaal to succeed, this latest speculation comes at the worst possible time for the 64-year-old.

The Red Devils travel to Anfield this afternoon for a huge match against Liverpool which will have implications on both their Champions League hopes, and Van Gaal’s relationship with the fans.
