(Video) Liverpool U21s 1-3 Man City u21s: Brandon Barker steals show with goal & two assists for Blues

Brandon Barker sent a message to Manuel Pellegrini with a goal and two assists in Manchester City U21s’ 3-0 win over Liverpool U21s at Anfield this afternoon.

The 19-year-old midfielder was an unused substitute in the recent wins over Aston Villa and Sunderland, but is yet to make his first-team debut for the Citizens.

Barker played a role in Ashley Smith-Brown’s 38th-minute opener for City, and supplied David Faupaula either side of his composed finish into the bottom corner.

Kelechi Iheanacho has broken through the City academy to score eight times in six starts this season, while Bersant Celina provided Sergio Aguero’s consolation in yesterday’s 3-1 loss to Leicester City.

Could Barker, who scored once in four games on loan at Championship strugglers Rotherham United earlier this term, be the next talent to come through a youth system that City have invested heavily on?
