West Ham United playmaker Dimitri Payet has signed a new £125,000-per-week contract with the Hammers, only six months after agreeing his first deal with the club.

The attacking midfielder only moved to the club during the summer, moving as a free agent from Marseille, and initially agreed a five-and-a-half-year deal.

Initially, Payet’s agent was content with a £75,000-per-week deal, but it seems that after a fine initial impression in English football, the representative wants more.

Indeed, Payet has impressed, scoring six goals, contributing four assists and getting rave reviews for Slaven Bilic’s side in the Premier League so far this season.

His form has prompted interest from Manchester City [The Sun], while the player’s agent insisted that there was also interest from China, heaping pressure on West Ham to agree to his requests for a new deal.

According to reports on Thursday, the Upton Park side have given in to the agent’s pressure, and offered 28-year-old Payet a remarkable £125,000-per-week deal.
