Shameless striker Daniel Sturridge is attempting to steal Philippe Coutinho’s goal in Liverpool’s 4-0 thrashing of local rivals Everton at Anfield last night.
Divock Origi, Mamadou Sakho and substitute Sturridge each bagged against the 10-man Toffees before the Brazilian – and yes it was him – completed the rout.

Coutinho’s shot might – might – have taken the slightest nick off the shorts of Sturridge on its way past Joel Robles in a thoroughly one-sided Merseyside derby.
The above video shows no obvious deflection, but Sturridge boldly tried to claim the goal – the rest of his teammates were celebrating with the real scorer, Coutinho.
Yet the England international was insistent that the goal undoubtedly belonged to him when questioned by Sky Sports reporter Geoff Shreeves after the encounter.
“It’s goals, isn’t it?”, he cheekily told Shreeves, according to the Liverpool Echo. “You know as well, I don’t even know why you’re asking me!
“But obviously it was a great ball from Lucas for the first one and obviously Phil’s shot and it’s hit me, so it’s my goal. Of course it’s mine, no doubt.”
There is an old expression that all strikers need to have a selfish streak, but Sturridge is pushing the boundaries with this one, and Jurgen Klopp will not stand for it.
The passionate Reds boss made it abundantly clear that he prioritises team spirit with his frustrated reaction to a journalist beginning a press conference with a Sturridge-related question, following Sunday’s victory over Bournemouth, as Sky Sports reports.
Klopp has recently chosen Origi over Sturridge to lead the Liverpool line in big games because of the Belgian’s unselfish willingness to work for the greater good.
Sturridge only got on the pitch at Anfield last night because Origi was stretchered off with an injury, following a tackle which saw Ramiro Funes Mori dismissed.
He has been linked with a move away from Liverpool, but says that he wants to stay, according to Sky Sports. He won’t survive under Klopp unless he alters his attitude.
