Jose Mourinho-loyalist expected to swap Chelsea for Man United

If Jose Mourinho does indeed get hired as the manager of Manchester United, he may have at least one familiar face waiting to greet him at Old Trafford.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic wants out of Stamford Bridge but would prefer to stay in the Premier League rather than accept a potential offer from Juventus. Per the report, Matic would request a move to Man United if the club decide to part ways with embattled manager Louis van Gaal and hire Jose Mourinho to replace him.

Matic enjoyed one of his finer seasons with the Blues in the 2014-15 season, setting a career-high in appearances and earning his second consecutive Serbian Footballer of the Year award while helping the club capture the Premier League and League Cup titles. He has remained in decent shape even in the tumultuous 2015-16 campaign, scoring two goals and adding two assists.

Ironically, Matic’s continued solid form even after Jose Mourinho was sacked by the club in December could lead to Chelsea placing a price tag on him that Man United might not be willing to pay.
