Video: Messi injury news: Fitness update issued as Barcelona star’s Copa America remains in the balance

While Argentina fans surely won’t feel completely comfortable until they see Barcelona‘s Lionel Messi back in action on the field, the latest indications are that the superstar forward will be fit to contest this summer’s Copa America.

The continental showpiece kicks off on Friday evening as the United States and Colombia go head to head at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

Argentina begin their campaign in the same stadium on Monday evening, when they face fancied Chile in a heavyweight clash between two of the tournament’s favourites.

Unfortunately for La Roja, they are likely to have to deal with Argentina’s superstar frontman Messi in their opener, with Albiceleste keeper Nahuel Guzman confirming that the attacker is steadily returning to full fitness.

“Messi is better and that’s reassuring for us,” Guzman told the media—as recorded below by Mundo Leo. “It’s good to have him back with us.”
