Crystal Palace defender Joe Ledley slammed Cristiano Ronaldo following Wales 2-0 Euro 2016 semi-final defeat against Portugal.
Ronaldo scored against Wales but Ledley was not impressed with the Real Madrid star man and expressed that he believes Gareth Bale is the better player.
“He’s one of those players who frustrates you,” he was quoted as saying by Goal. “He’s never in the game compared to Gareth [Bale].”
“He’s always in the game, always on the ball, always wanting it, always dribbling and always trying to do something.”
Ledley claims that while Bale is actively involved in most games he features in while Ronaldo does not impact games in the same way.
The Crystal Palace man described the goal Portugal scored as being ‘crappy’ and even said one of Ronaldo’s shots was ‘useless’.
Ledley did however, concede that Ronaldo is still a great player and that he wishes the Real Madrid man all the best in the final.
“They were two crappy goals. Ronaldo’s shot was useless. Normally he hits them from there but he scuffled the cross for a tap-in,” he added.
“With the header, the guy can leap, but apart from that he didn’t really do anything in the game.”
“You can’t disagree with his ability. He’s a fantastic player, one of the best in the world. But we just had one of those days where things he did came off. He’s now in the final and you wish him well.”
Portugal take on France next in the Euro 2016 final after they beat World Cup holders Germany 2-0 in Marseille.
Ronaldo will lift the European Championship final for the first time in his career if Portugal beat France in the final on Sunday.
