Jack Wilshere has been left out of Arsenal’s pre-season squad which will travel to Scandinavia this week according to The Sun.

The report states that Wilshere is struggling to overcome a knee injury which he suffered last week.

Wilshere will miss Arsenal’s friendly encounter with Viking FK today and is a doubt for the season opener against Liverpool next weekend.

The England international suffered an injury plagued season last term and played just 141 minutes of Premier League football before being selected for Roy Hodgson’s doomed Euro 2016 campaign.

“Jack has a slight problem with his knee. We think it should not be very long. He should come back quickly, maybe next week,” Wenger was quoted as saying by the Sun.

“It’s a slight patella problem but I think he should be with us on tour on Thursday.”

The 24-year-old has missed a 154 matches for the club since. Wilshere provided one assist and scored on goal in six appearances for Arsenal in all competitions last season.
