Manchester United have suffered a set back in their hunt to sign a star striker after Barcelona dismissed reports linking Luis Suarez with a move away from the Camp Nou, according to the Mirror.
Per-the-source, the La Liga giants have ‘laughed off’ suggestions that Suarez could be on his way out of Barcelona.
The Spanish outlet Don Balon recently linked Suarez with a move to Manchester United.
However, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted that the Uruguay international will not be leaving the Camp Nou any time soon.
“We read, we listen, we see this news, but of course, our interest in this particular case is that Luis Suarez is happy at Barcelona,” Bartomeu told Sky Sports .
“We are trying to extend his contract with Barcelona.
“He is one of our big future efforts because he is still young, he has a vision, a lot of ambition.”
The 29-year-old has scored 94 goals in 111 games for Barcelona since making the move from Liverpool back in 2014.
Barcelona suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League yesterday evening. Luis Enrique’s side do however remain at the top of Group C with 10 points after four games.
The La Liga champions take on Sevilla this weekend as they look to bounce back from their mid-week defeat.
