Arsenal vs Southampton confirmed starting lineups: Wenger starts an 18-year-old while the Saints go full strength

Arsenal and Southampton meet at the Emirates tonight as both sides look to progress to the EFL Cup semi-finals.

Arsene Wenger has named a makeshift starting eleven as he prioritises league and Champions League commitments.

Emiliano Martinez starts in goal for the Gunners. The 24-year-old has only ever made ten appearances between the posts for Arsenal. Wenger has also opted for an entirely different back four to the one that beat Bournemouth at the weekend.

Jeff Reine-Adelaide has been handed a start on the wing this evening. Reine-Adelaide is only 18-years-old, but is highly rated at the Emirates. He made his professional debut in January this year, coming on as a late substitute against Sunderland in the FA Cup.

Claude Puel has fielded a full-strength starting team this evening. He will no doubt feel that this is a realistic opportunity for his side to win a piece of silverware this campaign.

Arsenal starting XI: Martinez, Jenkinson, Holding, Gabriel, Gibbs, Coquelin, Elneny, Reine-Adelaide, Ramsey, Iwobi, Lucas

Southampton starting XI: Forster, Yoshida, Davis, Martina, Van Dijk, Clasie, Reed, Boufal, Bertrand, McQueen, Long
