Chelsea receive major transfer boost as 22-year-old star openly admits he wants Blues switch

Bayer Leverkusen ace Hakan Calhanoglu has openly revealed that he hopes to join Chelsea this summer, with several clubs interested in his services.

The Turkish international is currently serving a four-month suspension for breaching a contract with Trabzonspor, and it appears as though his time at Leverkusen could be coming to a close.

With seven goals and seven assists in 22 appearances in all competitions this season, Calhanoglu has provided another reminder of the quality that he possesses, and it has in turn attracted attention from several top European clubs.

However, as reported by The Daily Mail, he only has eyes for one club and is hopeful that a transfer to Stamford Bridge can materialise.

“God willing, I will be a Chelsea player next season,” Calhanoglu told Turksh newspaper Fanatik, as noted in the report.

“There are also a number of other clubs interested in signing me.”

It’s claimed that Chelsea have sent scouts to watch him in action this season, and he could well be one of the marquee signings that the club makes this summer as Antonio Conte continues to look at ways to strengthen his squad.

The Premier League leaders are on course to win the title this year, but at the very least they will now qualify for the Champions League, barring a late collapse.

In turn, Conte must add strength and depth to his squad in order to cope with the additional fixtures, and an area that he has been looking at is midfield and the attacking positions.

That’s where Calhanoglu fits in, and it sounds as though he only has eyes for the west London giants despite talk of interest from all around Europe as he proven to be one of the top young talents in the game.
