Leicester City have confirmed that they have parted company with Claudio Ranieri, and the people of Twitter are not happy about it at all.
Ranieri’s stewardship led Leicester to one of the greatest triumphs English sport has ever seen. From relegation-battlers to Premier League champions in just one season’s time.
Not all has been rosy for the Foxes so far this campaign, however, and they find themselves in a familiar scrap at the bottom of the table. It has forced the Leicester hierarchy into action, and they have made the decision to cut ties with the Italian.
You would have thought that after giving the club the best season in their history he would have earned himself a little loyalty, but this is a reminder of the brutal nature of modern football.
The football world fell in love with Ranieri last term, and it goes without saying, they are not happy to hear of his sacking. Here’s a taste of how Twitter reacted.
Football is a cold, cold sport. Ranieri’s sacking is simply shocking

If winning the league when you’re a relegation favourite doesn’t earn you a few years in the job then we are all doomed.

What a disgrace. The man who gave Leicester the best season in the club’s history given the boot merely seven months later.

Leicester literally did the unthinkable last season and could be in the QF’s of the CL this season. Ranieri going is barmy

Leicester City, a club that had Gary Megson in charge within the last decade, have sacked last season’s title winning manager

Just find it incredibly sad that a manager who delivered the absolute unthinkable is sacked not even 12 months on. Poor Ranieri. Ruthless.
