New Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has insisted that the talks surrounding the future of Brazil and Barca star Neymar are “just rumours” and that the the club “absolutely want him to stay”, according to the Metro.
Former Santos winger Neymar has been constantly linked with a world-record £197M move to French side PSG these past few weeks, with the player also said to be interested in switching the Camp Nou for the Parc des Princes this summer, as per the Metro.
As reported by the Metro, new Barca boss Valverde spoke about the talks surrounding Neymar, saying that the club want his him stay in Spain, and that it’s all “just rumours”.
Valverde’s words about Neymar have echoed what current Barca president Josep Bartomeu has said about the player, as Bartomeu insisted that the player was not on the market, and that a deal for the winger would be impossible due to FFP laws, report the Metro.
Should these rumours surrounding Neymar’s future be true and PSG end up paying near £200M for the player, it’ll be a sign that football has almost certainly gone mad.
