Arsenal name their asking price as Manchester City chase January transfer of Alexis Sanchez

This could persuade Arsenal to sell early.

Manchester City could have some luck in persuading Arsenal to let Alexis Sanchez go in the January transfer window if they’re willing to pay up.

Latest reports suggest the Gunners would demand a fee of at least £30million for the Chile international despite him being out of contract at the end of the season.

According to the Sun, this may prove too much for City, who are only prepared to pay around £20m for Sanchez, who remains a priority target for manager Pep Guardiola.

The Sun quote a club source as saying Guardiola feels signing Sanchez in the middle of the season could make all the difference to his side’s fortunes as they chase Premier League and Champions League glory this season.

The 28-year-old is one of the best attacking players in Europe on his day, and scored 30 goals in all competitions for Arsenal last season.

This led to City pursuing Sanchez in the summer, but BBC Sport reported that Arsenal blocked a deal on transfer deadline day as they could not find a replacement.

Arsenal could still struggle to bring anyone in in January, with clubs usually reluctant to do business in the winter as there is less time to replace players.

One shock replacement for Sanchez could be Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, with the Daily Mirror recently linking him as a target for Arsene Wenger as he struggles for regular playing time at Old Trafford this season.

Meanwhile, Sanchez scored for Arsenal in the weekend win over Everton as he looks to be getting back to his best form, and it’s easy to see why City want to add him even to their superb attack.

The likes of Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling have started the season in blistering form for the Blues, who enjoy a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
