Jose Mourinho contacts former club about signing skillful attacker for Manchester United

Manchester United have reportedly made an enquiry to Chelsea about the possible transfer of Brazilian winger Willian as Jose Mourinho seeks a reunion with his former player.

The 29-year-old has recently been linked as a target for United by the Daily Express, and they’ve stepped up their efforts to bring him to Old Trafford, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Willian was signed by Mourinho for Chelsea and became a key player for the club during his time there, whilst continuing to shine under Antonio Conte.

The Brazil international is in fine form at the moment after starring roles in last week’s 4-0 win over Qarabag and the 1-1 draw away to Liverpool.

United could do with improving their options out wide after the Express note that they missed out on a natural wide-man in the summer transfer window, with Ivan Perisic targeted but not successfully brought in.

Could Willian and Jose Mourinho work together again at Manchester United?

Willian is proven in the Premier League and looks ideal to give United more width and quality from midfield, though Chelsea may be wary of selling to a rival again after also letting Nemanja Matic move to Old Trafford in the summer.

The Serbian was a key figure at Chelsea before surprisingly being allowed to leave, and he’s since been one of United’s most important players this season.

The MEN also lists United as chasing four left-footed players in Gareth Bale, Antoine Griezmann, Mesut Ozil and Danny Rose.
