Cristiano Ronaldo’s reported move to Juventus is said to be edging closer as the Portuguese superstar could be set for a fresh chapter in his glittering career.

The 33-year-old has won two La Liga titles, four Champions League trophies and collected countless individuals accolades in a trophy-laden nine-year stint with the Spanish giants.

With Julen Lopetegui taking over from Zinedine Zidane this summer, Los Blancos could be set to embark on a promising new path, but doubts have emerged over whether or not Ronaldo will be part of it.

According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, his agent, Jorge Mendes, is set for a crucial meeting with Real Madrid on Tuesday which he claims will ultimately give the green light to Juventus to proceed with making a deal to sign Ronaldo.

Further, The Express report that while Ronaldo has already signed off on a €100m move, European football expert Gabriele Marcotti has suggested that an agreement with Real Madrid already exists for them to allow their most prized asset to leave the Bernabeu.

“It’s my understand that an agreement has been reached in principle involving Real Madrid and Ronaldo,” Marcotti is quoted as saying. “Its my understanding that they’ve all agreed how they’re going to do this.

“And there should be developments in the next 24-48 hours. So it does look at this time that he is on his way to Turin.”

Should Juventus secure a deal, it will be quite the coup for the Turin giants as although they’ve been dominant domestically for the past seven years with seven straight Serie A titles, they have fallen short year after year in the Champions League.

Given the pedigree and experience Ronaldo has in the competition, not only will he make them a more formidable opponent for their domestic rivals, but the Portuguese international could be the missing piece in the puzzle to end their wait for another triumph in Europe too.

Time will tell though if both Di Marzio and Marcotti are right and that he is indeed edging closer to a shock departure from Real Madrid to start a new challenge with Juventus with no official word from either club as of yet.
