Jose Mourinho urges Man United to outbid Barcelona for £62m star crucial to his plans to catching Man City

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly determined not to miss out on the transfer of Chelsea winger Willian this summer.

Under pressure to strengthen and catch Manchester City in next season’s title race, Don Balon claim the Portuguese wants his club to offer around £62million to Chelsea for Willian.

The Spanish outlet also note interest from Barcelona, though they are not currently willing to pay as much for the Brazil international, who was originally brought to Chelsea by Mourinho.

The ex-Blues boss clearly still rates Willian highly, and it makes sense that he sees him as a potentially vital addition for his squad this summer.

United lack genuine width at the moment with the likes of Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard better off centrally, while players like Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have been rather shoe-horned into roles on the left-hand side.

Willian could be the kind of player ideal for a tall striker as strong in the air as Romelu Lukaku, and he’s also a hard-working big-game player with experience at this level, having won two Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge.

No wonder Mourinho doesn’t want to see such a talent leave for the Nou Camp this summer.
