Chelsea increasingly fearful of huge transfer blow following major deal going through

Chelsea are reportedly fearful of losing Eden Hazard to Real Madrid after Cristiano Ronaldo completed a transfer to Juventus.

The Belgium international is one of the best attacking players in Europe and seems a decent fit at the Bernabeu to replace a departing legend like Ronaldo.

There has been plenty of speculation linking Hazard with Madrid for some time now, with the latest coming from Don Balon today, as the Spanish outlet suggests he’s among a number of targets in attack alongside big names like Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane.

This does look a big worry for Chelsea after their disappointing campaign last season, and the Sun report that Ronaldo’s exit does seem to have the Blues fearing the loss of their star player.

Although Hazard is not a like-for-like Ronaldo replacement given the difference in their goal tallies, the 27-year-old could be a fine addition out wide if a more predatory centre-forward like Kane could also be brought in.

And with Chelsea unable to offer Hazard Champions League football next season, it would be little surprise if a big name like him felt he’d be better off playing for a club who can not only offer him the chance to play in the competition, but a realistic shout at winning it as well after picking up the trophy four times in the last five years.
