Arsenal boss Unai Emery confident, reiterates stance on key figure amid uncertainty

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has reiterated his desire to see Gunners midfielder Aaron Ramsey remain at the club amid uncertainty over his future.

The Spanish tactician has been busy stamping his mark on the squad this summer, with new signings Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi all bolstering his options.

However, it will also be crucial for Emery to keep his key figures at the Emirates moving forward too, as he has made no secret of the fact that he sees Ramsey having an important role in his plans moving forward.

As seen in the video below though, the Welshman raised doubts over his future with Arsenal earlier this week as with his current contract set to expire next year, he remains unsure as to whether or not a new agreement will be reached between his agent and the club as they continue to negotiate.

Nevertheless, Emery sounds confident that the Arsenal ace will remain and offer him a major helping hand in making his stint in north London a success as Ramsey’s technical quality, passing and eye for goal from midfield could be key to the former Sevilla coach’s system and style of play.

“I think Aaron is an important player for us,” he is quoted as saying by The Sun. “I want him to stay with us, to work with us, to give the team big performances with his quality. I think he’s going to stay here with us.”

Having seen Jack Wilshere leave the club this summer as he wasn’t set to feature heavily, it would undoubtedly be a setback if Ramsey were to also leave in the near future and so Arsenal fans will arguably be hopeful that a deal is reached on a new contract sooner rather than later.
