Medical done: Manchester United to pounce for defender as double deal looks imminent

Barcelona raided as Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with Colombian centre-back Yerry Mina, whilst Everton close in on Lucas Digne.

23-year-old defender Mina made just 6 appearances for the Spanish giants in the second half of last season, following his move to the Nou Camp from Brazilian outfit Palmeiras back in January.

However the Colombia international put that domestic disappointment behind him at this summer’s World Cup finals in Russia, leading his country to the last-16 by scoring three goals and standing out as their most consistent performer.

According to The Express, Manchester United have come calling and have now opened talks with Barcelona about the possibility of a deal, having been unsuccessful in pursuits of Premier League defenders Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire.

The Catalan club has already offloaded another defender this week too, The Express also reports, as Lucas Digne completed his medical at Everton yesterday. The 25-year-old moves to Merseyside for a fee believed to be around £20million with add-ons and his signing represents a good piece of business for new manager Marco Silva.

The Toffees signed Richarlison from Watford last week for £40 million – as per The Telegraph – and in signing Digne for another large sum the club is proving to be unafraid to splash the cash in order to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
