Real Madrid boss wants to sign Bayern Munich star along with two Chelsea players

Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui reportedly wants the club to sign as many as four new players before the end of the summer transfer window.

Los Blancos have had a relatively quiet summer so far, with the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus certainly their most high-profile piece of business.

Given that Real finished miles behind La Liga champions Barcelona last season in third place, it’s clear more investment is needed if they are to challenge again in 2018/19.

Thibaut Courtois has already been strongly linked with Madrid by AS and others as it’s reported Chelsea are set to replace him with Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Along with the Belgium international, Don Balon link Real with another Chelsea star in Marcos Alonso, who can operate at centre-back or left-back.

Don Balon also mention Bayern Munich star David Alaba as another versatile defender/midfielder who is on Lopetegui’s radar.

A number of other candidates are also being considered in attack, with Don Balon listing Rodrigo, Mariano and Nabil Fekir as options.

Madrid fans will hope their club get their act together quickly, with the Courtois transfer certainly a decent starting point as an upgrade on Keylor Navas.

While Chelsea may have the Kepa signing more or less wrapped up as it’s reported by Kristof Terreur that they’ve met the Spaniard’s release clause, losing Alonso to Real would be another big blow as CFC don’t have much time to make a big signing at left-back.
