With Cristiano Ronaldo now gone from Real Madrid, it seems as if the club are going to have to appoint a new ‘number 7’.

Having left a such a huge legacy in the Spanish capital before sealing a move to Juventus, Ronaldo’s shoes are going to be tough ones to fill, no matter who is elected to take over his old shirt number.

And, according to Diario Gol, this is looking like it’s going to be Spanish international Marco Asensio.

The report from the news outlet states that their sources believe that the midfielder is going to be given the shirt number that was formerly owned by Ronaldo during his time at the club.

Asensio is set to be handed the famous No.7 shirt next season by Real

Although it’s surely going to put a huge weight on the shoulders of Asensio, the player has shown these past few years that he has what it takes to be one of the biggest names on the planet in the future.

The Spaniard, who’s just 22 years old, has been impressive during his time in Madrid’s first team so far.

In 91 appearances for Los Blancos, Asensio has already managed to bag 10 goals and 21 assists, meaning that he directly contributes to more than a goal every three games, a great return for a player of his age.

We’re not saying that Asensio is going to be a definite, like-for-like replacement for Ronaldo, but it’s fair to say that the midfielder is definitely one of the stars at Real who is capable of helping fill the void left by the winger this summer.
