Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba quitting the club for a move to Barcelona before the end of the European transfer window deadline at the end of August would not surprise Alan Shearer.
The France international’s future has come under some doubt of late, with growing reports of interest from Barca that could drag on for the foreseeable future.

The Telegraph have reported that the Catalan giants plan to come back with a ‘vastly improved’ bid for Pogba either in January or next summer after failing to persuade United to sell this summer.
However, there is still technically time for Barcelona to sign Pogba this month if they chose to do so, though it looks highly ambitious.
This is because, with the deadline for Premier League clubs passing last Thursday, United would now be unable to sign a replacement for the 25-year-old until the transfer window re-opens in the middle of the season.
Shearer, however, has some worrying news for United fans as he talks of reading speculation over Pogba’s future and saying he would not be surprised if the player did end up departing in the coming weeks.
‘I’ve read this week about Pogba wanting to leave before the European transfer deadline at the end of the month and in truth that wouldn’t surprise me,’ the pundit wrote in the Sun.
‘We saw the best of Pogba in the World Cup. Didier Deschamps managed to get top performances out of him in the games he played in the summer and he played very, very well.
‘He has to replicate that for United but it’s also Mourinho’s job to get the best out of him.’
