Roma on the verge of securing €33m deal for World Cup winner

Roma are reportedly set to complete a deal worth around €33m for Sevilla and France midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.

Eusebio Di Francesco’s men will be looking to build on their third-place finish in Serie A last season, and have been busy strengthening the squad to compete on various fronts.

Although they lost Alisson to Liverpool, the likes of Justin Kluivert, Javier Pastore, Robin Olsen and Bryan Cristante have all arrived at the Stadio Olimpico this summer to ensure that they are arguably stronger overall.

Now, it’s claimed by La Gazzetta dello Sport that the midfield could be reinforced further as Roma are on the verge of completing a move for N’Zonzi which is expected to be worth around €33m.

The combative and physical midfield ace will undoubtedly solidify that area of the pitch, and he boasts experience at the highest level having been a regular fixture for Sevilla while also featuring for France during their World Cup triumph in Russia earlier this summer.

In turn, it’s a sensible addition as far as the Italian giants are concerned, as they’ll hope to not only challenge Juventus and Napoli at the top of the Serie A table, but also to build on their memorable run to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.

Di Francesco’s men get their season underway against Torino on Sunday, but with the transfer deadline for Italian clubs fast approaching on Friday, they could yet welcome one more new face to the club in N’Zonzi.
