Lionel Messi aware Barcelona are growing more confident of €50m signing

Barcelona are reportedly still confident of securing the signing of Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint-Germain before the transfer deadline in Spain at the end of the month.

The 23-year-old has established himself as a key figure for the Ligue 1 giants, making 208 appearances already in his short career while winning a significant haul of domestic trophies.

Coupled with his technical quality and silky creative ability on the ball, he seems like a perfect fit for Barcelona given the style of play that the Catalan giants adopt.

According to Don Balon, Lionel Messi is aware that Barca are confident that they can get a deal done for Rabiot, and given his current contract is set to expire next summer, it could be a case of PSG looking to cash in now rather than lose him for nothing in 12 months time if he can’t be convinced to sign a renewal.

It’s added that the player himself is keen on the move and that he could potentially cost Barcelona €50m if a deal is done in the coming days.

With the window open in Spain and France until August 31, there is certainly still time for a deal to be done, but whether or not an agreement is actually reached between the two clubs remains to be seen.

It’s not the first time that it’s been suggested that the reigning La Liga champions are confident of landing Rabiot, as Mundo Deportivo noted earlier this week that they’re willing to be patient with a swoop for him.

Combine the two reports together, and it would appear as though Barcelona are still keen on bolstering their midfield further despite having signed Arthur and Arturo Vidal already this summer to fill the voids left behind following the exits of Andres Iniesta and Paulinho.
