Manchester United ignoring Jose Mourinho transfer plea in final days of European window

Manchester United are reportedly set to go against Jose Mourinho’s wishes to offload Anthony Martial before the end of the European transfer window next week.

Clubs in La Liga, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga have until August 31 to sign new players, and while Premier League sides can no longer bring new additions in, they can still sell to those leagues.

Martial is one player who continues to attract attention, but it seems as though a decision has been made at board level to keep the France international at Old Trafford.

This is despite Mourinho not being keen on the 22-year-old amid links with a move to Sevilla, according to a report from the Telegraph.

Anthony Martial’s Manchester United future has been in doubt for some time

The piece goes on to add that Martial himself is pleased with United’s stance on this issue, and that that has convinced him personally to carry on fighting for his future at the club.

Mourinho’s position also doesn’t seem entirely secure after a difficult summer and a poor start to the new season, with the Telegraph also noting links with former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane possibly being in line to replace the Portuguese.
