Lionel Messi is reportedly aware that Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso is a stand-out transfer target for his club Barcelona in the next few days.
The Spanish defender has shone in his time in the Premier League, and Don Balon claim Messi has learned of Barca considering a late move to bring him to the Nou Camp.
Of course, this is complicated by the fact that Chelsea can no longer sign players this summer after the passing of the transfer deadline for English clubs, meaning they’d be relying on backup player Emerson Palmieri in that role until January at least.
Given that Alonso has been a key player for Chelsea since joining the club in 2016, it seems likely that Barcelona will find it hard to get a deal done for him late on this summer.
Still, Don Balon suggest the Catalan giants have some hope of signing Alonso as he’s keen to return to La Liga.
The report adds that the 27-year-old is also a transfer target for Real Madrid, while Barca boss Ernesto Valverde wants him as a replacement for Jordi Alba.
