It’s been revealed that Jose Mourinho’s Man United failed with a £220M (€241M) bid for Real Madrid and Wales superstar Gareth Bale this summer.

As per Don Balon, the Spanish giants rejected the aforementioned offer from the Red Devils this summer according to journalist Eduardo Inda, who was speaking to TV station ‘El Chiringuito’.

This news would be bittersweet for Red Devils fans, as they’d be sad to hear their club missed out on Bale, but happy to see they were willing to splash serious cash to improve their squad this summer.

United failed with a monstrous bid for Bale earlier this summer

Bale would’ve been a fantastic signing for United should their bid had been successful, as the Welsh international has shown during his time in the Spanish capital that he truly is world class.

United have seriously struggled so far this season, with Mourinho’s side having lost two of their three opening Premier League games, one of which came to top four rivals Spurs at Old Trafford.

A lot of United fans would’ve surely been disappointed with their club’s activity in the transfer market this summer, as the only big-name signing they managed was Brazilian midfielder Fred.

Signing Bale would’ve given United a real outlet against teams, it’s just a shame for United fans that their club weren’t successful in their swoop for the former Tottenham star this summer.
