Rabiot’s PSG team-mate, Marco Verratti is another big name who’d be ideal for United’s needs after shining at the Parc des Princes.
The Sun reported in the summer that Verratti could be offered to United in a swap deal for Pogba, so that might be something worth reviving as it would save them a mammoth transfer fee.
The Italy international may well feel he needs a new challenge after so long at PSG, who look no closer to winning the Champions League and who aren’t exactly challenging their players in the rather unbalanced and noncompetitive Ligue 1.
Aaron Ramsey
Finally, another player heading towards the end of his contract is Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
Another recent report from the Sun suggests United are among the clubs keeping an eye on the Welshman’s situation, and there’s no question he could be worth a punt, even if he’s not the biggest name on this list.
On his day, Ramsey is up there with the best midfielders in the Premier League and his no-thrills approach might actually be a breath of fresh air in comparison to Pogba, who has skills but has so far lacked real substance in a red shirt.
