Real Madrid are reportedly stepping up their interest in the potential transfer of Porto defender Eder Militao, also a rumoured target for Liverpool and Manchester United.

The exciting 20-year-old has been a real hit in Portugal since his move from Sao Paulo last summer, with his stock quickly rising to attract interest from Europe’s big boys.

The Express recently linked Militao as a player in the sights of the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City, and it seems clear he could be a fine signing for a leading Premier League club.

The latest from Marca, however, is that Real Madrid have started scouting the player in recent games and have been impressed with what they’ve seen.

The Spanish giants have not made the best start to the season so could probably do with a top quality addition in defence.

Sergio Ramos is not getting any younger and will soon need replacing, while Raphael Varane has fallen down the pecking order slightly this term.

Militao would also undoubtedly do a job for the likes of United and Liverpool, with the latter missing Joe Gomez through injury recently as the unconvincing Dejan Lovren has had to fill in.

United, meanwhile, made a poor start to the season before replacing Jose Mourinho with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Militao still seems a potential upgrade on the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
