Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal further solidified his place in the annals of Spanish football history on Sunday night.
This accolade is attributed to the explosive attacker’s latest standout performance. Barcelona recently resumed their campaign by hosting Granada, a team fighting relegation, in a La Liga encounter at Catalunya.
When the dust settled of the exciting encounter, Xavi’s team had to settle for a disappointing draw, as the match ended in a thrilling 3-3 stalemate.
However, amidst the overall disappointment for the club, one Barcelona player distinguished himself. As mentioned earlier, Lamine Yamal delivered a stellar performance, scoring two goals in an electrifying display.
After initially putting Barcelona ahead with a close-range finish, the Spanish international once again showed his importance by equalising late in the game with a superb long-range strike, making it 3-3.
In doing so, Yamal etched his name into the history books.
According to statistics from Opta, the 16-year-old winger has become the youngest player ever to score three goals in La Liga, surpassing the record previously held by Barcelona’s loaned-out talent, Ansu Fati.

The term ‘generational talent’ gets touted around far too often these days, but the 16-year-old is genuinely one of those. He has been compared to Lionel Messi throughout his youth career with Barca, and if he is to continue this trajectory there is no reason why he can’t reach some of the heights the Argentine has reached during his illustrious career.
