“Everyone needs a big wake-up call” – Tottenham star brutally honest after defeat to Fulham

Heung-min Son condemned Tottenham Hotspur’s “unacceptable” display in their loss to Fulham, where Rodrigo Muniz netted twice in Fulham’s 3-0 triumph at Craven Cottage.

Rodrigo Muniz’s goals, along with Sasa Lukic’s second-half strike, sealed Fulham’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur. The lackluster performance from Tottenham cost them the opportunity to climb to fourth place in the Premier League standings.

The loss to Fulham followed a week after their convincing 4-0 victory over Aston Villa, during which Heung-min Son was among the scorers, ultimately squashing any type of momentum they gained from that result.

The South Korean international commented on his teams disastrous away display on Saturday evening.

Heung-min Son on Tottenham’s performance at Fulham

Speaking to Sky Sports, Son explained: “It is very disappointing and very frustrating. Everybody has to look in the mirror and say ‘it is my fault’.

“It was not good enough. We didn’t put in the effort we have put in this season. The performance, the attitude, was not good enough. Everyone needs a big wake-up call.”

“This was not close to what we have been doing this season. It is very sad to watch this. The fans don’t deserve this. They are coming here with positive energy and good vibes. Losing this was very tough. The players are very down,” he added.

Spurs still trails the top four by two points, but the gap could widen to five if Aston Villa defeat West Ham on Sunday afternoon. Manager Ange Postecoglou declined to discuss his team’s prospects of finishing in the top four.

The Australian manager sarcastically told Sky Sports after the Fulham game: “it’s all over.”
