Aston Villa are gearing up for a big summer in the transfer market, and their first major piece of business is already falling into place.
Unai Emery’s side are flying high, having won five of their last six games. They’re into the quarter-finals of both the Champions League and FA Cup, and they’re firmly in the race for a top-five Premier League finish, potentially enough to secure another season in Europe’s elite competition.
But with big ambitions come big decisions, and Villa’s pursuit of Marcus Rashford could hinge on balancing the books. If they’re serious about signing the Manchester United forward permanently, they’ll need to generate funds through player sales.
“That’s Arsenal for you!” – Which ex-Gunner believes his old club have one MAJOR problem?
With Rashford’s future still up in the air, Villa’s financial strategy in the coming months could prove crucial.
Any move for Rashford would be made a little easier thanks to that sale, but Villa still have a financial puzzle to solve, especially as the Man United forward’s price tag is climbing alongside his return to form.
At 27, the attacker has only featured nine times for Villa since joining on loan, starting just four of those matches. Yet, he’s already made a big impression, racking up four assists and earning a swift recall to the England squad under new manager Thomas Tuchel.
Marcus Rashford price may increase following England call-up
Man United chief scout Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider: “Their asking price has increased after he was recalled into the England squad.
“Villa have benefited from his impressive performances, he’s been allowed to show what he can do, and now Man United can benefit from his sale. They’ve got the best out of a bad situation at United.
“It looked like they’d have to sell him on the cheap, but his value has only gone up.
“With the interest from Villa and from abroad, and a place in the England squad showing how highly rated he is, it will allow them to drive up his asking price.”
Surely if they have an option to buy the price is already set
Slightly misleading. His price is not likely to go up.
The loan deal has an option to buy, so his price can only go up if Villa decide not to buy him or he refuses a contract with Villa.
In addition to that, another club that can afford him would have to step in, or he is back at Man Utd.
The transfer price is fixed at £40 mill in the option to buy. Do your homework and stop listening to fotball insider. All they write about is former employees opinions, no substantial facts, just speculation. The only real obstacle is if Rashford would fancy joining Villa. He said in his first Villa interview that his stay was only temporary.
Completely agree option to buy for £40 m stands it’s nothing at all to do with a valuation that Man U would like to put on him. If they end up valuing him at £100 m and Villa elect to pay the 40 m option to buy happy days that £60 m bonus keep or sell it’s up to Villa,
The only stumbling block is his wages but I think he will come to an agreement to stay with Villa where he is happy and has struck up a good partnership with Asensio who is also happy. its just Journo click bait
