The summer window closed without a definitive conclusion for Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
The Basque only arrived at the Emirates a year ago, and at first he looked like he was going to be a key player for Mikel Arteta. But as the season went by, he fell further and further out of the manager’s starting plans. The sheer amount of depth and quality the Gunners have makes minutes hard to come by, even though the 27 year old has been good when he’s played.
There were links to other teams – including Chelsea – this summer, but Zubimendi stayed put. When January rolls around it looks like those rumours will be back, however. TeamTalk today cite Spanish sources which claim a move to Real Madrid is already a done deal.

Real Madrid await perfect moment to strike for midfielder
Madrid, along with Chelsea, made contact with Arsenal in the summer, but there was no rush to get a deal done.
Zubemendi has so far not had a single league or Champions League start this season. If this pattern continues for the next few months, he will be pushing much harder for a move, and Madrid are hoping to take advantage of that.
Chelsea will see how things shake out with their own limited midfield options. They may already be regretting not pushing harder to sign Zubimendi a couple of weeks ago as they struggle for numbers centrally.
yeah, they can only dream of signing him for 70 mill euro… that is why they started unsettling him…typical for this club to think they can get away with any underhanded tactics..

It is a football market and all depends on your knowledge of the Market. Football is an entertaining art but extensively ran today with huge financial backing. The players sales and wages have become an astronomical venture that requires financial acumen to sustain. If Arsenal continue to lack this orientation and the need for renewed strategy to buy and sell, big clubs like Real Madrid and others will continue to poach their players cheaply. The Arsenal Management needs to understand that if want to sell well you need packaging of your players penultimate the transfer window period. Once a player becomes surplus to requirements at a Club, Arsenal reduces such players to nothing and perpetually render such players useless on the bench while the fans foul-mouthed them in graciously. With this attitude, we’ve already lost it in the transfer market. If we don’t really need Zubimendi after just a Season, he should be moved on very swiftly before his value drops due to being match rusty and frustrated, otherwise, it’ll be difficult to get him sold high!
There’s no point in him going there o be a squad player coming on from the bench. He might as well stay here. So the deal only makes sense if he’s going into the starting XI.

For the first 2/3rds of last season, he was ace.
Officially rated 6th best defensive midfielder in the world, which is why Madrid want him. He also speaks the language.
It would cost Madrid apx £120m to tempt Arsenal into considering selling him, but this may still be refused by Arsenal as Zubimendi being world class is a useful valuable used member of the Arsenal team yet to reach his prime age still.

I was comparing him to the other 5 world best midfield defenders, who may need interpreters during training, which is sometimes off putting, where as Zubimendi would fit straight in. Which would be one of the reasons Madrid are looking at him and not the others, as their fans love Spanish internationals.
Communication as well as skills is a premium.
