Arsenal manager ‘very confident’ of keeping striker
by stresster on July 21st, 2008You’re a footballer who has just enjoyed something of a breakthrough season at your current club. There have been plenty of goals, leading to rave reviews, while one or two big European clubs seem interested in signing you to come off the bench as a substitute for the last fifteen minutes.
For Emmanuel Adebayor, it appears that the bluff has failed, in terms of trying to secure a shedload more cash to play for the Gunners. He appears to have asked for money, to which Arsenal said no. He’s then linked himself to Barcelona and Milan, while asking for more money at Ashburton Grove. Still the answer has been no. Interest in the Togolese striker has now cooled, and The Sun reports that Arsene Wenger is left holding all the aces. Looks like just Hleb, Flamini and Silva are leaving then…
Wenger rapped: “I have not met many people who do not believe they have a case to improve their contract.
“We are always ready and I fight to get the players the maximum wages, but you have to respect that we have a wage structure. I want to keep him and let’s see where it goes.
“I don’t want to enter into speculation — but if you come in with a £400million bid tomorrow, then I will think about it.
“Adebayor is under contract. He is an Arsenal player and I am very confident that he will start the new Premier League season with us.”
Welcoming comments for the Arsenal fans amongst us, although Adebayor is hardly going to have endeared himself to the supporters after the events of the summer. He has shown himself to be greedy and money-grabbing, it’s not as if the Gunners don’t stand a chance of picking up any silverware next season.

He was never going to go. No one would seriously pay the fees talked about or £120K wages.
He had a good season and thought he could get some cash out of it. Good luck to him I say, and if he bangs in another 30 goals he should ask again. As long as he doesnt sulk about having signed a BINDING contract last year.

ade has been shown the place wher he belongs… he aint gonna get tat kinda money cos he’s average at best… his conversion rate is around 20-25%… henry used to have such a conversion rate only if he was used as a second half substitute or if he had a terribly bad day…
and remember 2 seasons back it was the henry-fabregas combo which helped arsenal to the champs league finals… wat did ade manage last season???
he has absolutely no rights to compare himself to Arsenal’s greatest player (yes it has been declared officially on the arsenal website tat henry is the greatest gunner)…
so he should now wisely shut his and his agent’s big fat mouth n start concentratin on football and improving his game rather than makin lousy statements tat he’s t next henry n stuff… he cant even be the shadow of arsenal’s greatest player…
ade can learn a thing or 2 from torres who shared the same goal tally as him last season… torres has remained loyal and he aint sulking for higher wages or transfer to a new club…

we arsenal supporters can be crap sometimes. Let Lampard (an English lad ) seek 160k from a lucrative deal of 126k and its fine with us all, including every pundit ( that he is worth every penny ). A 30 goal a season player ( ADEBAYOR ), who played upfront on his own all season and asking for a review and we call him greedy. Wake up every dumb n dumber b4 our beloved ARSENAL falls to pieces with its stingy wage structure. WE NEED TROPHIES SO PAY TOP DOLLAR AND SHUT UP.
