Arsenal Football Club face a fight to sign Tranquillo Barnetta.
The Gunners have been linked with a £12million bid for the Swiss international midfielder, but Bayer Leverkusen are eager to keep hold of the 23-year-old.
“There are enquiries for Tranquillo all the time and we have been talking about this with him,” Leverkusen sporting manager Michael Reschke told Express.
“We are always in touch with Tranquillo and are attempting to extend his deal.” (fansfc.com)
This move makes little sense to me of all the midfielders linked with a move to the club Yaya Toure still remains the best on offer but maybe Alexandre Song will come into his own and prove that he is good enough for the role in the centre of midfield, he was magnificent against Burnley but yes that was only a Championship outfit so he still has a lot to prove. There is also Denilson to consider so i think the idea that Wenger would make such a big bid for Barnetta, who is a good player but nothing spectacular, is unlikely.
