Emirates Stadium full-back to leave on loan?

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Stoke City want to sign Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson on loan for the remainder of the season and are ready to battle West Ham, Wigan and Fulham to complete the deal.

Injury problems in the full-back areas have prompted Stoke manager Tony Pulis to open talks with Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger over the possibility of loaning England defender Jenkinson for the rest of the season, according to the Daily Mirror.

Former Charlton defender Jenkinson played a considerable chunk of the early part of the season for Arsenal, but has lost the right-back berth following the return to fitness of Bacary Sanga and that has alerted Stoke and other Premier League clubs over his potential availability this month.

The sticking to the move will be Wenger’s reluctance to allow Jenkinson to leave for four months with every likelihood that he will be needed at the Emirates with Arsenal still in the Champions League and FA Cup as well as Premier League action.

Jenkinson is expected to become Arsenal’s first choice right-back next season with Sagna, a transfer target for Inter Milan, expected to leave the club in the summer when he will have just 12 months remaining on his contract.
