Arsenal wide-man Andre Santos has confirmed he is set to join Gremio according to Sky Sports.

The 29 year old wing-back has been in abysmal form this term and with Arsene Wenger opting to sign Nacho Monreal last month it seemed inevitable that Santos would be leaving North London.

Speaking on arrival in his native Brazil Santos stated;

“I have the best expectations, They are one of the biggest clubs in the country.

“I’ve come to Gremio to be a champion. I am very excited about this project.

“I have dreamed of working with Luxemburgo. He is a top manager in our football.”

Santos joined Arsenal in August 2011, signed from Fenerbache in a £6.8m deal. Thus far he has made 30 appearances for the North London club but will now find himself behind both the aforementioned Monreal and England left-back Kieran Gibbs.

Santos’s bad form was compounded by an ill advised move to swap shirts with former Arsenal star Robin Van Persie at half-time during the club’s clash with Man United.

The move to the Porto Alegre club is thought to be a temporary one until the end of the season but Gunners fans will hope that a permanent switch will follow.
